2021- 2022 Mukwonago Girls Basketball Club 3^rd/4^th Grade Basketball League (MGBCBL) Overview

 

The Mukwonago Girls Basketball Club Basketball League (MGBCBL) is a developmental youth basketball league for girls that are in the 3rd and 4th grades.  Teams may be made up of any combination of 3^rd and 4^th grade girls (i.e. – all 3^rd grade, all 4^th grade, or a combination of 3^rd and 4^th grade).  The quantity of teams is dependent on facilities availability and the quantity of teams requesting to be in the league.  The MGBCBL was made up of 46 teams for the 2020-21 season, with the teams listed below by division.

Teams that played in the MGBCBL in the prior season have the first right to return to the league for the upcoming season.  Once a team is in the MGBCBL, the league organizers do not remove that team from the league unless it is requested upon by the team itself, the team does not submit the necessary registration/payment by the required due date, or unless unforeseen issues arise.

 

Each season there are several requests for to fill open spots or create new spots to the league.  When these spots become available, they are filled in the order in which the requests were received.  With the pandemic still going on, it is uncertain if all the clubs who were in the league last season will have the same quantity of teams this season.  Therefore, I have not committed or guaranteed open or new spots in the league.  I’m asking everyone to please register.  After the registration deadline, I will do my best to put together a schedule that satisfies as many of these requests as possible.  If there are any requests that we I am unable to accommodate, I will let you know as soon as possible and issue a full refund.

 

All registration and payments for the 2021-22 season are completed online through the Mukwonago Girls Basketball Club (MGBC) website.  The only two available payment options are credit card and ACH payment.  As in previous seasons, we are using the services of TeamSnap to facilitate registration, payments, league scheduling, and league management.  The league fee is $900 per team and the registration deadline is Friday, October 1, 2021.

 

The MGBCBL is split into two divisions (i.e. – Blue and Gold).  The intent is to maintain the developmental concept, while trying to place teams into a division that is more competitive and better suited with the respective team’s experience and level of play.  To make this a success, we rely on the registering team to properly/fairly determine if their team should be in the blue or gold divisions.  In some instances, teams may be asked to switch divisions to balance a schedule and/or to work within facility availability.

 

Blue Division

1. This division is geared towards teams that are primarily made up of players that have already participated in some type of competitive basketball (typically new or returning 4^th graders).




2. Rule Difference:  Defense may pick up at half-court the entire game.

 

Gold Division

1. This division is geared towards teams that are primarily made up of players that are new to competitive basketball (typically 3^rdgraders and new 4^th graders).




2. Rule Difference:  Defense must not defend beyond the 3-point arc until the last 2 minutes of the game. Defense may pick up at half-court the last 2 minutes of the game.A league schedule will be generated, posted online, and emailed after all the registration, waivers, payments are received.   Each team will be scheduled to play 16 games per season, playing 2 games per-day on 8 Sundays.  The league games will be held at Mukwonago High School.   Although the list below shows 9 league dates, each team will only be assigned to play on 8 of the given dates for the 2021-2022 MGBCBL game dates.

This is a highly sought-after league and rescheduling of games is not allowed.  Please do not book outside tournaments until the MGBCBL schedule is finalized.

 

Although things are subject to change, we do not have any COVID specific guidelines in place for the 2021-2022 season.  We do encourage coaches, spectators, and athletes to use good practices, be mindful of spacing, and stay home if sick.  Our intent to keep the girls playing for the entire season.
